Breaking News! State Government signs-off on the Draft Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme

Today, Friday, 28 February 2025, at a Property Council of Australia event, Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Rosanna Natoli announced that the Director General has completed the State Interest Review of the Sunshine Coast Draft Planning Scheme.

The Sunshine Coast Council initially submitted the draft scheme to the State Government for review in December 2023. In August 2024, the State issued an extensive request for further information. Since then, the Council has responded to this request, enabling the State to complete its review.

The next step in the Draft Scheme process is for the Council to finalise and release the Draft Planning Scheme document and undertake the formal Public Consultation period. This is expected to occur in the coming months, allowing the public to review and comment on the draft scheme and its content.

We hope to provide further updates once the Council/State releases formal notice that the State Interest Review has been completed.

ADAMS + SPARKES will continue to keep tabs on any progress and provide future updates, however don’t hesitate to get in touch with any questions or to discuss further.
