Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme Update – Height Limits

Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme Update

New Height Limits for Key Tourism Areas on the Coast!

The Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme has had a lot of changes this year but this latest amendment will change the way we build in designated tourism focus areas on the coast. From 10 December 2018 Council have included provision for Rooftop Uses (i.e. bar, food and drink outlet, function facility, indoor sport and recreation – where ancillary to a residential use on the site) in nominated areas of Maroochydore, Mooloolaba / Alexandra Headlands and Coolum. These uses include bars, restaurants, hotels, function facilities and ancillary sport and recreation uses.

Our review of this change found that Rooftop Uses where complying with the defined criteria and located within the designated tourism focus areas contain increased building height provisions (including lift overruns) to support these uses.

If you think you would like to take advantage of this amendment or should you require any further information in relation to the planning scheme or a specific property, please contact our office on 07 5313 7705 or email us at admin@astpd.com.au.
